Buy CT Grown members featured in New York Times article on CSAs The New York Times featured an article this weekend on the economic downturn's effect on community-supported agriculture (CSAs). "The distribution system in which people buy shares in return for a weekly allotment of local fresh farm food has never been more popular in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut," the article finds. And the economic downturn may be one reason people are turning to local food as they try to cut down on expenses. Stacia Monahan, the owner of Buy CT Grown member, Stone Gardens Farm in Shelton, CT, told the Times that at Stone Gardens Farms she "is preparing for her second year with a C.S.A., [where] shares will nearly double, to about 200."
