Ingredients
- 6 Bosc pears
- 1 bottle Riesling wine (sweet)
- 2 cups sugar - granulated
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2 cups Stilton cheese (crumbled)
- 1 cups walnuts (chopped)
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup maple syrup
Instructions
- Peel the skin off of the pears and then core from the bottom
- Combine the Riesling, granulated sugar and lemon juice in a sauce pan
- Bring the wine mixture to a simmer and drop the pears in
- Cook pears until just fork tender (approximately 15 minutes)
- Remove pot from heat - let pears steep in mixture overnight in refrigerator
- Put honey & maple syrup in small sauce pot and simmer for 1/2 hour (stir constantly)
- Remove from heat and cool in refrigerator
- Remove pears from liquid and carefully pat dry with paper towel
- Slice the pears as thin as possible (on the cross section)
- Arrange the first slice of pear on the plate
- Put a teaspoon of Stilton and a 1/2 teaspoon of walnuts scattered on top
- Put the next pear slice on top and continue till assembled
- Spoon the thickened honey & maple syrup mixture over the top
