Since colonial times, the farm has passed through the hands of four different families who raised crops and milked cows. Currently, Riverbank Farm grows a diversity of certified organic vegetables, cut flowers and hay. Nourished by the fertile bottomland soil of the Shepaug River, the farm uses no herbicides, synthetic fertilizers or synthetic pesticides.
Riverbank Farm is in its fourteenth year of operation. The 45-acre farm is picturesquely situated in the Shepaug River valley in northwestern Connecticut. From twelve acres of fertile river bottom soil and two large greenhouses, they grow a full variety of seasonal vegetables and cut flowers. Their produce is sold at Connecticut farmer's markets, natural food stores, local restaurants and through a small CSA. They also have a small apple and peach orchard. In addition to growing food, they make hay on their farm and adjoining farms.
