All about strawberries:

Strawberries are one of the first in-season fruit in Connecticut. They are a nutritious snack jam packed with natural fiber and Vitamin C.

Strawberry Picking:

Is fun and easy! Visiting a Strawberry Farm is a great outdoor experience. Strawberry picking is a tradition that friends and family look forward to every year.

How to pick and store your strawberries:

Picking Strawberries

  • Red luscious berries are ready for picking
  • Green berries will not ripen after picking
  • Pinch or pull stem from plant making sure to leave the stem for longer lasting berries
  • Remember strawberries are perishable and need to be handled gently

Storing Strawberries

  • Protect the berries from hot sun. Store immediately in the refrigerator in shallow containers to prevent crushing.
  • Wash strawberries and remove hulls and stems just prior to serving or processing
  • Easily preserve your berries by freezing. Remove strawberry hulls, wash, dry and individually freeze on a baking sheet, transfer to a bag and store for up to a year.
